Case Study
Midway Rentals modernized inventory management by implementing a data-driven solution that automates Min/Max calculations based on real sales activity. The team reduced manual effort, improved reorder accuracy, and gained greater confidence in inventory decisions.
Business Situation
Midway Rentals needed a more reliable approach to inventory optimization. Their existing Min/Max processes relied on manual updates and outdated logic, making it difficult to ensure inventory levels reflected actual sales behavior. This increased the risk of overstocking slow-moving parts or understocking critical items.
The team also lacked visibility into key data, such as when parts were last sold, and had no structured way to review calculated changes before updating the system. Midway required a solution that would reduce manual effort, improve trust in inventory values, and provide greater control over updates.
Solutions Delivered
Midway Advisicon implemented the Target Inventory Application (TIA), a purpose-built solution that integrates directly with Midway’s POR database. The application calculates Min/Max values using real sales data, factoring in total quantity sold, evaluation period, and lead time to ensure inventory levels align with actual demand.
The solution includes a preview and approval workflow, allowing users to review calculated values before committing changes. Once approved, updates are written directly back to POR, eliminating duplicate entry & reducing risk. The interface was enhanced to display critical decision-making information clearly, and the system was validated through controlled testing prior to full production deployment.
Benefits Realized
Min/Max values now reflect real demand, improving reorder accuracy and reducing stock imbalance risk. Manual effort has been minimized, and users have greater confidence in inventory planning decisions. Enhanced visibility, including Last Sale Date tracking, and seamless integration with POR ensure a more efficient and controlled process.
Midway Rentals Today
Midway Rentals now uses the Target Inventory Application in production to manage inventory more effectively. The solution supports data-driven decisions, healthier stock levels, and improved responsiveness to changing sales patterns while maintaining full control over system updates.
