Leading Global Aerospace Company

Case Study

A leading global aerospace company from Washington State faced a complex project to upgrade over 30 on-premises instances of MS Project Server and transition reporting from SSRS to Power BI. Advisicon delivered a comprehensive solution that enabled a smooth migration while enhancing reporting capabilities, ensuring the company’s technology remained secure and up-to-date.

Business Situation

The company’s MS Project Server 2013 instances were reaching their End of Life (EOL), necessitating an upgrade to MS Project Server 2016. Additionally, SSRS reporting was being deprecated, requiring a transition to Power BI. This undertaking included a thorough review of the existing 2013 environments, configuration of new 2016 instances, secure data transfer, and re-development of reporting with Power BI.

Solution Delivered

The aerospace company established a new SharePoint Farm and configured the required Project Server instances. Advisicon developed a custom migration tool that seamlessly transferred data across multiple MS Project Server versions, including 2013 and 2016, ultimately migrating over 30 instances. Reporting was upgraded, with Power BI implemented for enhanced data visualization while existing SSRS reports were reconfigured to source data from the updated SQL servers. Advisicon worked closely with Project Server administrators to develop customized reporting solutions suitable for all management levels.
